OMG this blogging thing is so intimidating...I am so computer illiterate...Don't know how to add images or buttons or link to other blogs...all very confusing.  Guess I will just write for today, maybe purchase "Blogging for Dummies" this week.

I have five children-ages 18 to 5, four boys and one girl (the girl is #4). She was supposed to be the caboose, but God had other plans. So now I am a 46 year old mother of a recent kindergarden graduate and a recent high school senior graduate!  I hope God knows what he is doing and where I am headed, cause I'm not sure and my Garmin was stolen.

Each day during the summer, there are a few constants...sleep late, COFFEE, swimteam at 10:30 for the younger two, LUNCH for my five, myself and however many crashed at our house the night before. Then yell at everyone to pick up and help me in the house, followed by doing a lot of it myself, since they will not hear me without major YELLING and threatning to turn off the internet!  At a minimum, three loads of laundry a day are necessary unless you want to grow a mountain before your very eyes and directly under your feet in the laundry room!  Then I try to get into my art studio to paint by 1:30 or 2:00.  Sometimes I remember to take something out for dinner.  If I forget, I tell my husband we are having a salad with chicken (he has to have his meat) and then I make chicken nuggets for all the kids.  We can go through a huge bag of chicken nuggets from Sam's in about two to three days.  Last night, my 16 year old son, turned on the deep fryer (yes, in the South, we fry everything) at least 4 times to cook chicken, corndogs, fries, and I don't know what else.  He stays hungry!

I am getting ready to hang my art at a new Fabric Store opening up...the owners invited me to hang my artwork on this huge wall right by the register...I have had so much fun painting.  My current picture is a watercolor of three older women standing waistdeep in the swimming pool...they are all in bright color floral swimsuits and matching bathing caps.  Very humorous...I hope it may tickle someone's fancy and they will have to take it home with them.  I will try to post a photo of it when I finish it...

Got to figure this computer stuff out!

To Junk or Paint?

I don't know which I'd rather do...go junking with my mom or paint?  I love junking with my mom, although the area where we live was tragically impaired after Hurrican Katrina came barrelling in and swept all our good junk out to sea almost six years ago!  I can't believe it has been almost that long.  August 29th will be six years.  But this blog is not about that time in my life.  Rather, I want it to be about the things I enjoy doing and the people who I love. My mother is an amazing woman...she is 75 years  young and she is my best friend.  I am so very blessed that she is here with me and that we can still go and do our junking outings...we love the Goodwill, the Doggy Bow Wow Thrift Store, the America's Thrift Store, and garage sales and estate sales anytime we see one!  She and I have an uncanny way of noticing the same things at the same time...we just roll like that!  This summer, we are making a big effort to take my one and only daughter, Emma, with us as a Junior Junker in Training!  She is nine and she has her own Blog and she has inspired me to begin my own.  She will one day be a famous writer...She writes amazing stories and she is a huge reader, as my mother and I are...Books are a favorite item to purchase on our thrifting junkets.

You may be wondering where the painting comes in...I am an artist.  I even have a degree in Fine Art.  I love to paint mostly with watercolors, although in the past two years, I have been dabbling in acylics as well.  I love to paint people mostly, particullarly portraits.  But I also paint still lifes and scenes that make me feel peaceful...like I could just sit down and enjoy myself inside that painting!  I also paint murals and do lots of custom artwork, especially for children's rooms...fairys, mermaids, and such.

I will pick up a paintbrush to paint ANYTHING!  I will paint a room, a rug, a candlestick, box, lamp or tray, a chair, dresser or table, art for my walls, art for your walls!  Anything is fair game as far as I am concerned.  My mom and I keep our eyes peeled for anything inexpensive which can be transformed into FABULOUS!
Paint is my friend and I'm not afraid to use it!
